Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario des Mille-Îles to offer employment assistance services on behalf of the Government of Canada
KINGSTON, ONTARIO—The Honourable Peter Milliken, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, welcomed the announcement from the Honourable Joe Volpe, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, of $189,506 in funding for the Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario des Mille-Îles (ACFO) to provide employment assistance services in Kingston.
“This project will help unemployed individuals access the information and resources they need to get a job,” said Mr. Milliken. “The employment resource centre will provide citizens in the Kingston area, particularly those in the Francophone community, with the help they need to re-enter the labour market.”
Under the project, ACFO will continue to provide services through an employment resource centre that help individuals prepare for, obtain and keep employment. The Association will provide individualized, bilingual employment assistance and resources to clients in the Kingston area, with special emphasis on the Francophone community.
This project is funded through Human Resources and Skills Development Canada’s Employment Assistance Services, which help unemployed individuals by providing counselling, job search techniques, job search, and labour market information.
Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.
This project has been reviewed to ensure compliance with the Department’s administration of its grant and contribution programs.
