Government of Canada funds Kingston Employment and Youth Services Inc. to offer employment assistance services

KINGSTON, ONTARIO—The Honourable Peter Milliken, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, today welcomed the announcement from the Honourable Jane Stewart, Minister of Human Resources Development, of $682,233 in funding for Kingston Employment and Youth Services Inc. to offer employment assistance services in Kingston. 

“This project will help unemployed workers take the steps necessary to successfully join or return to the work force,” said Mr. Milliken.  “The Government of Canada is pleased to provide support for services that are working to help individuals access a variety a valuable employment programs and services.”

Under the project, Kingston Employment and Youth Services Inc. will help over 4,000 participants seek employment.  The project will provide employment counselling services, including career goal development, job search skills, referral to employment interventions such as training, and support services for clients in approved employment-related activities.  The project will also conduct various workshops including Preparing for Today’s Job Market, Too Young to Retire, and 30 Ways to Shine. 

This project is funded through Human Resources Development Canada’s Employment Assistance Services.  Employment Assistance Services helps unemployed individuals by providing counselling, job search techniques and labour market information. 

Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.  

This project has been reviewed to ensure compliance with the Department’s administration of its grant and contribution programs.
