Dear Friends,

As summer transitions to fall and our city streets that were recently populated by tourists are now filled with students eager to resume their studies,  people from around the world have discovered why Kingstonians take so much pride in their history.

In this issue of the Milliken Report we celebrate the designation of Fort Henry as a National Historic Site of Canada, and the Rideau Canal National Historic Site of Canada as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You will also find information on Canada’s role in Afghanistan, how to qualify for federal grants under the ecoEnergy Retrofit program, facts regarding identity theft, updated passport information, and more.

As always, I hope that you find this report useful and I encourage you to contact my office should you have questions or concerns regarding any federal matter.  Please accept my best wishes for a happy and healthy autumn.

   Yours truly,

   Peter  Milliken, M.P.
   Kingston and the Islands

On June 22nd, the Hon. Peter Milliken, M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons, and the Hon. Senator Noel Kinsella, Speaker of the Senate, welcomed the foreign diplomatic corps to Kingston.

Along with a number of Kingston dignitaries, the diplomats enjoyed a scenic river cruise and a taste of Kingston’s military history with dinner at the Fort Frontenac Officers’ Mess.
