Dear friend,
The summer months are here and Kingston, as usual, is bustling with activity. In addition to the usual line-up of festivals and summer activities, Kingston will celebrate its second First Capital Day on June 15, in honour of Kingston's historical status as Canada's first capital.
Canada's outlook during the coming summer months is booming. We've experienced the greatest explosion of economic growth since the end of the Second World War. We've also witnessed the best job growth in a generation -with unemployment falling to its lowest levels since 1976. The government has created some two million jobs since it first came to power six years ago.
This edition of the Milliken Report examines a variety of local initiatives such as the outstanding efforts of the H' art School of Smiles and the Youth Diversion Program. I have included information pertaining to the role of the Ombudsman at Canada Post, and for those of who are interested in addition, I have attempted to clarify the issues surrounding the recent passage of Alberta's controversial Bill 11.
As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions on any issue pertaining to the federal government. Please contact my office should you require any assistance.
Yours truly,
Peter Milliken, M.P.
